Supporting Students

Anti-Bullying

The school anti-bullying policy is designed to make the school a happy safe learning environment and to develop in all students skills and strategies to protect themselves in uncomfortable situations. An information leaflet is available for parents.

Counselling Service

The school has a counselling service which equates to approximately one hour per fortnight. To access the service a referral form must be completed and clients placed on a priority list.

Disability Programs

The school has policies and strategies in place to cater to the needs of all students including those with disabilities.  Wheelchair access and facilities are not available.

Discipline

The school has a discipline policy and procedures which aim to reinforce and support positive behaviour and sanctions and consequences are enforced for inappropriate behaviour.

Drug Education

Drug education is an integral part of class Health, PDPE programs.  Permission notes are sent home annually for participation in specific drug education lessons.

Gifted and Talented Programs

The school aims to help all students reach their individual potential.  Special support is provided through school and P&C funding to extend students.

Health and Wellbeing

As well as a daily fitness and sport program the school encourages students to participate in fruit break and healthy eating.

Learning Assistance

The school aims to help all  students reach their individual potential.  Special support is provided through school and P&C funding to support students with difficulties.

Student Leadership

All students from year 3 up are members of the Student Representative Council, which has input into the school decision-making processes.  Suggestions to improve school routine and equipment are initiated by the Student Council. In particular the Sport Minister is responsible for suggesting equipment purchases and the Health and Safety Minister inspects the school weekly to find anything in need of repair or improvement.

In year 6, student leaders are elected annually to take on specific tasks.

Sun Protection

The school is acutely aware of the need for sun-safe behaviour from an early age and as well as a policy and procedures, shade trees and covers enhance the playing areas.
